All-new Bajaj Chetak C2501 launched in India at ₹91,399 (ex-showroom)

The iconic Chetak name tag was revived when Bajaj launched the Chetak in its EV avatar, marking the brand’s entry into the electric two-wheeler space. Now, Bajaj has taken things a step further with the launch of its second electric two-wheeler, the Bajaj Chetak C2501, which will sit below the Bajaj Chetak 30 and 35 series and be an entry point into the Bajaj Chetak lineup. The Chetak C2501 aims to strengthen the brand's presence in the competitive electric scooter segment. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Design

The Chetak C2501 follows the Chetak’s old-school neo-classical design language with a horseshoe-styled LED DRL at the front and distinctive ice-cube LED tail lamps at the rear. It gets integrated turn indicators on the handlebar. The C2501 retains its all-metal bodywork, smooth curvy panels, and a clean, elegant silhouette that gives it a premium and timeless appeal and further enhances its retro-modern character, while the solid build quality adds to its upmarket feel. With a 107kg kerb weight, it is 22kg lighter than the 35 Series. To suit different tastes, the Chetak C2501 is available in six colour options, which are Ocean Teal, Classic White, Racing Red, Active Black, Opalescent Silver and Misty Yellow

Battery and Performance

The all-new Bajaj Chetak C2501 is powered by a 2.5kWh NMC battery pack, which can provide 113km of IDC-claimed range. Charging duties are handled by a 750W charger, which charges the battery pack from 0-80 per cent in just 2 hours and 25 minutes. It gets a hub-mounted BLDC motor (as opposed to the centrally mounted PMSM unit on the 25 series) which produces peak power of 2.2kWh and 1.8kW of continuous power. The C2501 has a 55kmph top speed. Bajaj is providing a standard warranty of 3years/50000km, but buyers can also opt for an extended warranty of 5 years at ₹5990. The battery pack and motor are also IP67 water-resistant.

Features and Rider aids

The C2501 is underpinned by the same chassis as its elder sibling, and in terms of features, it gets a colour LCD display which shows all the basic information, but buyers can opt for a TecPac, which adds in some important features and ride modes. The TecPac adds in 2 riding modes — Eco and Sport, music controls, call controls, hill hold assist and guide me home headlamps. The Bajaj Chetak C2501 also gets a reverse mode, front Disc brake and rear drum brake. It also gets a 25-litre boot.

Pricing

The Bajaj Chetak C2501 is priced at ₹91,399 (ex-showroom), which makes it one of the most affordable EV scooters in the market currently. With Bajaj’s strong brand image and wide reach, this scooter could be an instant hit in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities across the country.
