As we all know, Mahindra is predominantly an SUV manufacturer. They are all set to launch two new SUVs on November 26 at the Unlimit India event. This is a significant day for Mahindra, not only because of the simultaneous launch but also because it introduces a new electric brand and logo, as evident from the teasers. This will also mark a new chapter for the 79-year-old company.
Mahindra BE 6e and XEV 9e everything we know so far
However, the products will be anything but ordinary. These brand-new eSUVs are based on a new ground-up developed platform, INGLO. This is a true skateboard architecture, allowing the batteries to be positioned as low as possible without compromising boot space, frunk, or seating. Additionally, the XEV 9e is a fitting moniker; the stylish coupe SUV is not called "B E Six e" but "Be 6e," which is now a 100% more attractive, nice one. While most concept vehicles remain just concepts, the electric-origin SUVs look remarkably similar to their futuristic concept counterparts. The teaser has also unveiled a new identity with a new illuminated logo on the hood.
Speaking of technology, in one of the latest teasers from R Velusamy, President of Automotive Technology and Product Development of Mahindra, he explains that the eSUVs will be offered in 59kWh and 79kWh capacities. The battery employs the safest LFP (lithium iron phosphate) technology and can charge from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes with a 175kWh DC charger. More impressively, Mahindra also claims these SUVs will be the fastest SUVs ever made by an Indian manufacturer. Adding to the excitement are the power outputs from the 3-in-1 electric powertrain, offering 228bhp or 282bhp (170kW or 210kW) state of tune.
There will be surprises on the inside as well. Mahindra has teased an all-new illuminated steering wheel, three large screens on the dash with built-in 5G connectivity – for high-speed streaming, a massive panoramic sunroof with illuminated patterns, Level 2+ ADAS, a 360-degree camera, 16-Speaker Harman/Kardon sound system, Dolby Atmos, in-car camera, and an in-car audio suite composed by A.R. Rahman. Also, like typical fashion in other Mahindra SUVs they claim class-leading structural and battery safety. All these features are typically found in vehicles priced between Sixty lakhs and One crore and are unheard of in this segment. Thats all for now; we will keep our fingers crossed for Unlimit India.
